Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Add melted butter and the yeast mixture; stir until combined.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the risen dough, roll it out to a rectangle about half an inch thick, and fold into thirds.
  6. Place folded dough in a greased loaf pan, cover with a cloth, and let rise again for 30-40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
