Description

Danish Almond Puff is a heavenly pastry that features layers of flaky dough enveloping a rich almond filling, topped with a sweet glaze. This delightful treat is perfect for impressing guests or enjoying as a comforting snack. With its buttery texture and irresistible aroma, it’s bound to become your new favorite recipe for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold, cut into cubes)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds (lightly toasted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a bowl, mix flour and granulated sugar. Cut in cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk one egg and stir in almond extract. Combine with the flour mixture until a dough forms.
  3. On a floured surface, knead the dough gently and shape it into a rectangle about 12×8 inches. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  4. Mix slivered almonds, sugar, and the remaining egg in another bowl; spread this filling evenly over the dough.
  5. Fold the sides of the dough over the filling like an envelope and pinch seams tightly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar and milk until smooth; drizzle over warm Danish Almond Puff before serving.
