Description

Irish Soda Bread is a quick, delightful bread with a crispy crust and soft interior, perfect for any meal. Enjoy it fresh from the oven with butter or jam!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¾ cups buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until fully combined.
  3. Create a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk and melted butter. Stir gently until just combined; lumps are okay.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly for about one minute.
  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf about 1-2 inches thick and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Score an “X” on top with a knife.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Allow to cool slightly before slicing.
