Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and stir in the yeast; let sit until bubbly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, brown sugar, and salt. Add in the yeast mixture and eggs; mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. In the meantime, prepare the filling by mixing softened butter with brown sugar, cinnamon, and ginger until creamy.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread the filling evenly, and roll tightly from one end to another.
  7. Slice into even pieces (about 1 inch thick) and place them snugly in a greased baking pan.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. While baking, whisk together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to create the glaze.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over warm rolls just before serving.
