  • 4 cups filtered water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Wash and quarter the apples without peeling them to retain flavor.
  2. In a large pot, add the quartered apples, water, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to low and simmer for 1-2 hours until soft.
  4. Mash the mixture with a potato masher to release juices.
  5. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into another pot or bowl to separate liquid from solids.
