- 6 slices thick-cut bacon
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped

Instructions
- Soak the navy beans overnight in plenty of water.
- In a large pot, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon but keep the grease.
- Sauté the chopped onion in the bacon grease until translucent (about 5 minutes).
- Stir in the cooked bacon, molasses, ketchup, mustard powder, and brown sugar.
- Add the soaked and drained beans along with enough water or broth to cover everything (about 4 cups).
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 3-4 hours until beans are tender and saucy.
