  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While the cakes cool, prepare the frosting by beating softened butter and cream cheese until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Once cooled, assemble the cake by layering with frosting in between and covering the top and sides.
