Korean Twisted Donuts, or Kkwabaegi, are a delightful indulgence that combines a crispy exterior with a soft, chewy interior. Infused with warm cinnamon and coated in sugar, these donuts are perfect for any occasion—whether you’re hosting friends or enjoying a cozy weekend treat. Easy to make at home with simple ingredients, Kkwabaegi will transport you to dessert heaven with every bite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for coating)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Create a well in the center.
  2. Gradually add milk and egg while mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Roll dough into long ropes and twist into spirals, connecting the ends to form rings.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry donuts in batches until golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes). Flip halfway through.
  7. Drain on paper towels and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture while warm.
