Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh or frozen octopus
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh oregano, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean the octopus under cold running water, removing any ink sacs or entrails.
  2. In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, parsley, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add octopus and coat well. Marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F / 200°C).
  4. Grill the marinated octopus for 3-4 minutes on each side until charred and aromatic.
  5. Check tenderness; it should be slightly firm but soft. If necessary, grill for another minute per side.
  6. Remove from grill and let rest briefly before slicing into bite-sized pieces. Serve warm with extra herbs and a drizzle of lemon juice.
