Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup piloncillo (or brown sugar)
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, eggs, and milk until smooth.
  2. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into circles.
  3. Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry bunuelos until golden brown on both sides.
  4. In a saucepan, dissolve piloncillo in water over medium heat until slightly thickened.
  5. Drizzle warm syrup over fried bunuelos before serving.
