Description

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large egg whites (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp red gel food coloring
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together almond flour, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whip egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold in the red gel food coloring until blended. Gradually fold in the dry mixture into the whipped egg whites.
  5. Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each macaron.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until macarons develop feet. Let cool completely before filling.
  7. For the filling, whip cream cheese and vanilla extract until smooth, then pair two macarons with the filling in between.
