  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/4 cup sherry wine
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat, then let it cool slightly.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together granulated and brown sugar, then add melted butter until smooth.
  4. Stir in eggs one at a time, followed by almond extract and sherry.
  5. Sift in flour and cocoa powder, mixing gently until no dry spots remain. Fold in sliced almonds.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
