Method
Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that the meatloaf cooks evenly.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, black pepper, thyme, and oregano. Use your hands to mix gently until just combined. Overmixing can lead to a tough meatloaf.
Shape the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Prepare the Glaze
In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar until smooth. This glaze adds a sweet and tangy flavor to the meatloaf.
Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf using a spatula or the back of a spoon.
Bake the Meatloaf
Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.
Serve
Slice the meatloaf into thick pieces and serve warm with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.
